Variable Speed Blower Motor

One of the greatest improvements in modern heating and cooling is the variable speed blower motor. Would you like more air conditioning comfort and efficiency in your home with less sound? Then a variable speed furnace may be a great solution for you.

A variable speed unit will run at an energy-saving capacity the majority of the time. A variable speed furnace can also operate on as much as 2/3 less electricity than a standard speed unit. During cooling periods, this can add an additional 1 to 2 SEER, bringing your 13 SEER to a 14 or 15 SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio), which can help bring down the cost of operation. The variable stage unit runs at a lower, energy-saving stage for longer periods of time. This helps to minimize the fluctuating temperatures associated with single speed units. The lower stage runs at enough capacity to heat or cool your home and keep it comfortable on mild weather days. When temperatures drop or rise during harsher periods, the unit enters a higher stage of operation to meet the demand for more heat or cool air within your home. It will make the needed adjustments automatically without the need to adjust the thermostat. The advantage this offers is a more consistent level of comfort in the home. Because a variable stage unit starts in its lower stage and runs in lower stage most of the time, it uses less energy to operate and produces less noise in the home than units that kick on at full blast.

A single speed unit uses somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 to 600 watts of electricity per hour. A variable speed model will use somewhere in the area of 75-100 watts per hour. A variable speed unit also uses an electronically commutated motor (EMC) that uses electricity at a higher rate of efficiency. In the course of a year this will add up to very noticeable savings. Setting the fan on your variable unit to constant operation will allow for continuous air circulation throughout the home, providing cleaner and more filtered air for you and your family to breathe.

In addition, a variable speed unit is more effective at pulling humidity from the air in your home, giving you greater comfort. That means better air quality, better savings, and better comfort for you and your family!
